Layer Up this Winter!

After a lovely long warm summer the cold front has decided to rear its head. I’m a Winter girl myself and the main reason is that I get to play with lots of layers of clothes, the more the merrier!

One thing we tend to do in Winter is let our fashion choices slide a little… Warmth and comfort usually take priority over dressing up (as they should!)

I’ve got some fun ways to up-style your look for the cold seasons and the bonus is, they’re all cosy and comfy!

The Clash

For those of you who have attended one of my style classes you will know that I’m all about a colour palette. The easiest tip when wanting to try the tricky clash trend is to stick to your colour palette. In this case I’ve gone with monochrome and red. The knit, texture of the coat and crazy print on the pants all work together because I’ve used the same colour palette.

The colour of the season

It’s not new but because it looks good on almost everyone Burgundy is back with a vengeance this year. It’s a little more low key than brighter hues and looks luxe. I highly recommend a great coat like this one for winter, it’s super versatile from the school run with leggings a hoodie and runners to this more office appropriate look. Tartan is big this Season, my last outfit used it as a statement, this ones shows a more subtle way to include the trend in your look.

Puff it up

Here’s a look that’s super easy to wear. The puffer jacket! You will be as snug as a bug in this great piece and the statement green colour had passers by asking me where this was from so I’m sure it wont last long. I’ve added a playful sporty edge to this look by using a bum bag as a cross-body bag, great for if you’re out walking or at the park with the kids. Don’t be afraid to mix colours, try a coloured beanie or sneaker to amp up the look.  I kept the jeans slim so I didn’t get too lost in the puffy silhouette.

The statement knit

This can be done in many ways but my easy guide is keep it simple, stick to solid black everywhere else then add…a statement knit! It can be printed, super chunky wool or just a great colour. It’s a very classic look that will have you channelling Meghan Markle in no time.  The heel on the boot here and black on black on the leg really elongates the body. Try a Cuban heel if you want something smaller.
